10-12 raw italian sweet sausages
2 tablespoons olive oil for frying
32 oz beef broth, low sodium
2 cups water
14 oz can tomato sauce
14 oz can diced tomatoes
6 oz can tomato paste
1 teaspoon or more mixed italian seasonings
1/2 teaspoon Garlic powder
1/2 teaspoon onion powder
1 heaping teaspoon wet crushed red peppers (optional)
Salt and pepper to taste.
Brown meat, out of casing, cut up, in oil. Put in bottom of slow cooker. Add liquids and spices. Stir, cover.
High 1 1/2 hours, then low til done.an hour or so. Add shells at the end, to cook al dente in soup.
Serve.
