chicken legs:
For the rub: ( I had to repeat steps 4 times because of how big the legs were)
1 tsp sea salt
1/2 tsp ground black pepper
1 tsp garlic powder
1 1/2 tsp smoked paprika
1/4 tsp chili powder
1 tsp onion powder
For the chicken:
4lbs chicken legs
2 cups bbq sauce
Spray the inside of the crock pot with non-stick cooking spray.
In a small bowl combine the rub ingredients until completely mixed. Rub spice mixture over the chicken legs and then place them in the slow cooker in layers.
Pour 1 cup of the BBQ sauce over the top of chicken legs. Gently toss to coat.
Cook on low 5-6 hours or on high 3-4 hours.
When the chicken legs are done cooking, preheat the broiler to high.
Line a sheet pan with aluminum foil. Place a wire rack on top with the sheet pan on top.
Remove chicken drumsticks from the crock pot and place them on a wire rack. Brush the
drumsticks with remaining BBQ sauce. Broil 3-5 minutes or until the edges are starting. Turn the chicken legs over, brush with remaining BBQ sauce and broil that side for 3-5 minutes or until the edges are starting.
Finished product served with mashed potatoes and corn. No
